Stressed? Take it from HIM.

Starting on Monday, Thomasians and other students from different schools and universities will be taking their final examinations for this semester. Final exams have always brought me the utmost stress, that becomes too much, and makes me feel that I couldn't keep up. I always fret and get anxious, causing me to mess up. But then, it always boils down to the fact that GOD, is there. Watching. Guiding. Believing.

My friends, if you are as stressed and as fretful as I am, take a read. Be inspired!

Before exams:

1. I am so worried about this particular subject :)
Philippians 4:6,7 - Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving
present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus
2 .My mind cannot concentrate during revisions :)
Isaiah 26:3 - Thou will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed in Thee, because he trusts in Thee.
3. I can't sleep peacefully nowadays :)
Psalm 3:5- I lie down and sleep; I wake again, because the Lord sustains me.
4. I am physically and mentally fatigued :)
Isaiah 40:31 - But those that wait upon the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles: They will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
5. There is no hope for I'm too far away to catch up :)
Psalms 43:5- Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Saviour and my God.

During exams:

1. I don't understand what the question is all about :)

Proverbs 3:5,6- Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.

2. I'm too nervous to think properly :)

John 14:27 - Peace I leave with you; My peace I give you.I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
3. This question needs much wisdom and I don't have it :)
James 1:5 - If anyone of you lacks wisdom, He should ask God who
gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.
4. This question is impossible to answer :)
Mark 9:23- "If you can ?" said Jesus. "Everything is possiblefor him who believes."

After exams:

1. What will my results be? :)

Psalms 37:4,5 - Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.
2. have to sit for a supplementary examination :)
Romans 8:28- And we know that in all things Godworks for the good of those who love Him, who have been called to his purpose.
3. I might not make it through again :)
1 Corinthians 10:13 - No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful: He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out...

Dear Child,
This is your word of assurance for the examinations that lie ahead : You have had many anxious moments. You have been fearful and dismayed. But I have helped you, I have not brought you this far to desert you, to leave you,to let you find your way home. I have begun a work of faith in your life. I have watched your progress. I have strengthened you. Thus, your confidence and your courage can be quickened by this thought: I have brought you this far and I will see you through. But child, this is how you shall go forth and win the victory : Not by your might, nor by your power but by My Spirit. You have learned from your own understanding but your understanding has failed you. Therefore I will give you this Spirit of understanding. You have applied your own wisdom but your wisdom has not been sufficient. Therefore my Spirit of wisdom will rest upon you. Know this: That in all you set to do, My Spirit will empower you and work a miracle for you and glory and honor will come to Me. Look not to your lack of wisdom.
Look not to your weaknesses. But look on to Me. I remember you are dust and know you are fearful. But I have loved you with an everlasting love. I will continue My faithfulness to you. Understand this : My grace is sufficient for you, My power is perfected in your weaknesses. What is done willbe accomplished by the power of My Spirit in you. You will see tremendous victory wrought by My hand.

Hope this may be of help! To all of my batch mates, UST OT Batch 2014, we can do this. Let's set our minds on the prize. As long as there's still time and the opportunity is at hand, don't give up. The best of our efforts can work miracles. Just study. Have faith. Do your best. Pray! Good Luck!

That day I decided to be a loner

Things at school were pretty light yesterday. We had our last General Physiology class with a little twist. Our professor checked the attendance, and made an effort to look at all our faces. I wondered why he did that. Just as though as he read my mind, he explained, "I wanna see your faces for the last time. So I know who you guys are when I make the grades." That scared me. Merlin, hope I pass. I gave it my best shot, anyway.

I love taking random snapshots of people around school, most especially when I am bored. So, here are two snippets that my viewfinder caught.

Long line for the ATM. Looks like they need moolah, huh?
My friend Vanessa, saw this Canon Pixma printer, being sold at the Medicine Building lobby for Php 1,500.00. She bought it, and had the unfortunate task of carrying it for the whole day. Cheers to her pa-cute face.
After school, I went to Robinson's Manila to stroll around and do some window shopping. I did this by myself. When most people would sulk and complain about being alone, a little "loner" time is just fine with me. That's how I roll. I think I went around the entire mall for three times, until my legs were hurting. I found lots of good styles of clothes and boy, almost all my favorite shops are re-stocking. I'm making a mental note to visit once I'm ready for some Christmas shopping!
Walking around made me hungry. I was craving for something light, something oily and something street. Eww, right? Then, I found this stall! I bought chicken skin, one of my favorites, for 24 pesos. I'm pretty sure this one's cleaner than those beside the road..
After finishing the chicken skin, I realized I was craving for ice cream. I went to Mcdonald's to buy Choco McDip..which was extremely messy to eat. One fact about me is that, I absolutely hate eating ice cream served with a cone. I tend to go in cups.
Whenever I go to the mall, I make it a point to go to Powerbooks or Fully Booked. I could spend hours or even a whole day in that place. I came out of the store with a lengthy list of good reads. Those books will be part of my birthday wish list. Anywhooooo, I took a picture of "THE ETERNAL ONES". My sister has spoiled the story a bit for me, since she was able to read it online. No one will stop me from buying this. I think I'll grab a copy this sembreak!
"How do people find each other again?"
"All I know is that we're drawn to the people we've loved before."
"I look for you in every life, but I don't always find you. And sometimes, I find you too late."
My idea of a great story! Can't wait to read this!

When I got home, I found a balikbayan box from our relatives abroad. There was a bag, that carries a tape with my name on it! It's a leather Anne Klein bag!! I super love it! It's big enough to carry my stuff. It looks sturdy as well.
Love the details!
Very spacious! Me likey!
So, that's just an idea of one of my normal days. Finals are coming up and I'm pretty stressed. Passing all of my subjects would be one of my October wishes. I'll seriously go nuts if I fail one subject, because it'll cost me one whole year. Wish me luck!! Merci!

Early Christmas Wish: Fuji Film Instax Mini 7S

I had my first dab into lomography and polaroid when I was twelve. My dad bought me this Barbie polaroid camera that I only enjoyed for two months, then left it to rot inside my cabinet. Now, I don't know where to find it. I sort of regret the fact of not taking care of it, since my interest in polaroid has come back.

I've been browsing through random blogs and found a cutesy polaroid camera that Camille Co  bought. I like the fact that she bought it in the same color that I would buy it..PINK!

Say hello to, FUJI FILM INSTAX MINI 7S. (picture taken from Google)

I seriously want this as a Christmas present. This would be perfect for trigger happy moments!! I viewed a couple of sites and this one ranges from P 3,000.00 to P 4,500.00. Fair enough for this baby!!

Photography and pink, all in one. Another technology critter that caught my girly eye.
Any reader out there who has used this? Comments and reviews would be well appreciated!!

Dream Come True: Meeting Javy Gil

Whenever I tweet while I'm with my friends, they would always snicker and say, "Ay, nako! Nag-ttweet nanaman si Cassie sa imaginary Javy niya!" I don't mind them of course. I just laugh it off. Well, I've been going kilig for Javy for quite a time now. He's following me on Twitter already, and the last thing that should be done is to meet him. The CANDY FAIR, made it possible.

As I have said in my previous post, I arrived quite late at the event. My cousin, Molly was thinking that we won't be able to see Javy anymore. We were firm on the fact that: "we can't go home until we meet Javy Gil."

We witnessed the Candy Cuties being introduced on stage. Molly and I squealed when we saw Javy! Oh myyyy, such a cutie. Hottie. Basta. Any word that would be equal to "good looking" would be fine! The hosts announced that there would be a meet and greet after the event, so we assumed that we could finally meet Javy there. We found out later that only the celebrities who performed would be in the meet and greet, not the Candy Cuties. My heart fell that time. So, Molly and I decided to walk around just to see if Javy was mingling with the crowd. Since the event was over, some of the CC's were already going home. I was actually having the feeling that we won't be able to meet him. I seriously died a little inside.

Molly and I waited a little longer and finally saw Javy coming out! A number of girls frantically ran to him. Us as well! Hahahaha! That was sooooo kiddie and fan girly of me! Based on how Javy looked, I think he was tired. I was actually kinda scared because he might get agitated because he was practically being badgered by everyone. No one's perfect, a fact that I always keep in mind.

I decided to wait for my turn. Then when it was my turn, this girl pushed me aside and said, "Ako muna, Javy! Ako muna!!" She grabbed Javy and took a photo. Hmm, well, that wasn't very nice of her. In my head, I was like, "Ay, teh! Would you die if you wait for your turn and be fair?" I hate people like that. Sheesh. But I kept my cool.

Javy was very accommodating to the girls. He even told one girl who was holding a Samsung Corby II, "Ganyan din phone ko."

When the coast was clear, I tapped Javy sheepishly and said, "Javy? Can I take a picture with you?" He looked at me, SMILED and said, "SURE." I swear that my heart raced wild when I saw him smile! Merlin, he's so handsome!! When we posed for the photo, I was being demure and calm but inside, I was screaming with happiness. I wanted to introduce myself as CASSIE FROM TWITTER, but I was shy. Sayang. Thank you, Molly for taking this! xx Excuse my haggard face. This was taken after the event, the heat was murdering me.
People on Facebook said that we looked good together. A cousin of mine even asked me, "Boyfriend mo?" I wish I could have said yes! Hahaha. But Javy liking someone like me is next to the impossible. Just being realistic!

Here's what my cousin, Maureen Mina said over Twitter upon seeing the photo. This made me happy. :))

Now, here's Javy and Molly. Sorry, baby girl, your photo was blurred! :( You see, my hands were still shaking from the postive shock of seeing Javy. Hence, I wasn't able to stabilize ze viewfinder of my phone. Javy's face looked funny in this shot though. I dunno if he was impatient, or feeling awkward. But still handsome anyway!
Here's what Ate Mau commented upon seeing their photo! Wahahahaha.
We went home, still feeling the euphoria from finally meeting Javy Gil.  Yes, FINALLY! He's no longer imaginary, friends! ;) I told Javy before over Twitter, (dunno if he still remembers) that I'll make a part three blog about him once I meet him. THIS IS THE PART THREE BLOG.

Thanks so much, Javy for being so nice despite of the fact that you were already tired. Thank you for being such a gentleman! I just wish I could have introduced myself, though. Remember when I tweeted about treating you to Frutti Froyo from Pergola? Well, that still stands! I hope I can see you there next time! I want to do a mini-interview with you. IS THAT POSSIBLE? So that I could give my readers an in depth article about you. Pwede ba? Please? DM me or tweet me for your answer!

Yesterday's events made me a happy girl. I'm so happy that I made our photo my dp for both Facebook and Twitter!

Dreams really do come true, my friends. My encounter with Javy Gil is a proof. Just be determined! Chos! Hahahaha. ;)

Candy Fair 2011

I went to the biggest teen event of the year, the annual Candy Fair, located at Megatent Event Venue at Pasig. A day before, I was actually thinking to skip it since I want my Saturday to be a rest day. But, I pushed through with it anyway. My tweener cousin, Molly and I met up at around 1pm and we were en route to the Megatent. Thanks to her mom and dad for giving us a lift!

Molly and her brother and Matt on our way to the venue
The travelling time from Makati to Pasig was pretty short, because we got there at 1:30. The entrance to the venue was packed with Candy girls, in different ages. We lined up, got our magazines checked and we entered the fair! The people from the reception gave us these Kettle Corn packs, which we left somewhere because it was such a hassle to carry around. Mehehehe. We were astounded with the attendees when we got in. There were so many people. Sold out concert lang ang peg! Molly and I looked at each other and we kinda agreed that it's good thing that our other cousin Ate Maureen didn't come because she'll die of the pack and the heat!

Molly and I walked around and checked the different booths. We tried the Lip Ice photo booth, first. Then, we heard that the program was about to start, so we decided to go closer to the stage. It was so cramped, that people actually had no space to move around. Molly and I contained ourselves to one corner so that we would just see what was going on. But there was this bitchy woman from a booth who shouted at us and said, "COULD YOU LIKE MOVE OVER THERE?! GO!GO!GO!" She looked so stupid defending their booth's spot which was clearly placed in a wrong manner, blocking the STAGE AUDIENCE's right of way. I just looked daggers at her, glared and moved away. I was smart enough not to retaliate that time. Thankfully.

Random photos. Sorry for the poor resolution. I just used my phone.
In total Candy girl mode! Those fake grasses from the maze were pretty itchy.
Pre-show and during the show. Countdown, the crowd and NYFD fries that we ate because we were hungry.
Molly with Pia Magalona
Molly with a Candy Cutie. Dunno what his name is! Hahaha.
We saw our favorite bloggers, Vern Enciso, Camille Co, Lissa Kahayon and David Guison! I was too shy to approach the last two, so I just took pictures with the Vern and Camille! They're both even more stunning in person! And extremely nice as well!

Me and Vern Enciso

Me and Candy Cutie, Hans!
Molly with Hans as well.
BEST MOMENT OF THE DAY: MEETING JAVY GIL.
I'll make a separate post on this one! But here's the pictures. The picture I took of Molly and Javy turned out so blurry because I was so nervous that my hands were shaking. Mehhhh.

AWESOME PERFORMANCES THAT GAVE ME AND MOLLY A CARDIAC. No pictures.
  • James Reid's rendition of "Lazy Song."
  • James Reid and Patrick Sugui's "Party Rock Anthem" number.
  • Arkin Magalona's first time on the Candy Fair stage. He was such a cutie!!
  • Elmo Magalona looking so swag while singing "How to Love" for the Candy girls!
  • Sam Concepcion, looking so handsome and charming while singing "Forever Young". He did it suave and smoothly. I'm thinking of getting a copy of his album, actually.
  • Elmo and Sam's duet of "Turn off the lights". Damnnnnn!
  • Dino Imperial's ultra cute spiels.
  • Tribute to AJ Perez (this one gave me goosebumps and actually made me tear up.)
I must say that the Candy Fair was yet again a success! Kudos to the Candy team! Thanks so much for making all the girlies like me, extremely happy! More power!

We left the venue at 6:30pm, still feeling the giddiness and the excitement. I felt like being in high school all over again! I'm totally looking forward for the next year's fair! I'm proud to say that I'm a CANDY GIRL!
Thanks so much Molly for a fun day! I know I could always count on you! xx

Lunch Date: Steaks Unlimited

Yesterday, I had a lunch date with three of my favorite girlies at Steaks Unlimited. We all had an awesome time, I miss doing things like this with these crazy chickas! Live, love, lafang could be our motto because we tend to pig out whenever we can. It was a perfect time to catch up, unwind and eat a lot!!

I took a couple of pictures of the place, so consider this blog entry as a mini-review of the place as well.

Almost everything in the menu is priced at 88 pesos, and it comes with unlimited rice! Downside is, there's no drink along with that. But, for heavy eaters like me and my friends, it sounds like it's a good deal. As they say, "Ang tunay na babae, nag-eextra rice!" There are meals priced below the above mentioned, but those don't qualify for the unlimited rice offer.
The place has a nice ambiance, good lighting, awesome sound system (which plays up to date music, thank goodness) and good air-conditioning. I'll give it 4 stars! Oh, and fast service as well! Did I mention they have lcd tv? Hip!
Let the randomness begin..

Here's what I had: T-bone Steak. The gravy was nomnomnom. 4.5 stars!! Priced at 88 pesos. I had extra servings of rice of course!

Den's meal: Sizzling Squid. Priced at 88 pesos. We were a bit disappointed at the size, but it tasted good according to her.
April's meal: Tanigue Steak. Priced at 88 pesos. The butter that came along with it made it perfect!
Ze happy girls, after eating!
Denise and Vanessa
April and yours truly!
I totally recommend this place to those who love steak. Visit: STEAKS UNLIMITED at ITower condominium along P.Noval Street, Sampaloc Manila. UST Area!

It's always fun and fulfilling to bond with your girl friends, especially over food! Me and my girls are planning another pig out session. I think we'll try Chef D'Angelo's eat-all-you-can!! Can't wait!

Day Four: Seven things that cross my mind a lot

  1. Will I pass all my subjects for this semester?
  2. Will I graduate in time, at exactly year 2014?
  3. What's for dinner?
  4. Am I really over him?
  5. When will I get my "early entrance" into Pottermore?
  6. Are they real friends or the usual fake ones?
  7. Javy Gil. ;)

Sweet little things

I'm not your typical girl. Scratch that. I'm not a superficial kind of girl. I take joy in the simplest things. I even appreciate the smallest of things as long as it came from the heart and it has effort.

Yesterday, my friends gave me a mini-surprise! It's like three days post my real birthday, so it was clear that it was totally unexpected. So, I was on my way to our room after having a quick spot check in the ladies room. My friends April, Vanessa and Denise stopped me and told me to close my eyes and put my palms in front of April's thighs. It was an awkward position and at that time, I was pretty sure they were tricking me. Then, April opened her jacket and out fell a package wrapped in a purple paper! Post-its were stuck on the front and by gist, I was able to understand that they were messages for me!

I WAS TOUCHED BEYOND BELIEF. The little surprise made my day. I have such sweet friends. I'm lucky to have them!

Here's the contents of the package!

Kitkat. One of my favorite chocolates.
Hershey's Milk Chocolate Bar. Another favorite!
Pink Piggy Scissors. This pair of scissors made me extra happy! I'm a sucker for pink and pigs, and this is two in one! Thanks, friends! Sooooo cute!
Here are some of the post-its. I just had to read all of them over and over. Thank you for the sweet messages! :) Sorry for the poor resolution.
I feel so blessed that I have friends like them. I feel even more grateful for the fact that I grew up as someone who has simple joys. I love my friends, and I'm pretty sure they are aware of it!
